What We Believe
Here is an overview of our Beliefs:
-
BIBLE - Every word in the original writings of the Holy Scriptures of both the Old and New Testaments is inspired of God, without error, and of supreme authority in all matters of faith and life. (II Tim. 3:16; II Peter 1:21)
-
INTERPRETATION OF SCRIPTURE - We believe the approach to interpreting the Scriptures is the literal, grammatical, historical approach.
-
GOD - The Godhead exists eternally in three Persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one God. (Deut. 6:4; Psalm 90:2; Matt. 28:19; John 1:1-3, 8:58, 10:30; Acts 5:3-4; II Cor. 13:14)
-
JESUS CHRIST - The eternal Son of God became incarnate in the Lord Jesus Christ, being born of the virgin Mary, and is true God and true man. (John 1:1, 14, 18, 5:18; Phil 2:6-11; Col. 1:19; 2:9; I Tim. 2:5; Heb. 1:1-9; I John 5:20)
-
HOLY SPIRIT - The Holy spirit is the Third Person of the Godhead, who regenerates, indwells, baptizes, and seals all believers in Christ, and fills those yielded to God. (Acts 5:3-4; Matt. 28:19; John 3:3-7; Rom. 8:9; I Cor. 2:12; 6:19; 12:13; Eph. 1:13; 4:30; 5:18)
-
MAN - Man was created in the image and likeness of God, but in Adam all mankind fell into sin with the result that all men are sinners, hopelessly sinful in themselves, apart from the grace of God. (Gen. 1:27; 9:6; Rom. 3:23; 5:12; 8:6-7; Eph. 2:1-3)
-
SALVATION - Salvation is received by faith alone in Christ, who died as a substitutionary sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures and rose again, and all who believe on Him are justified on the basis of His shed blood and receive the gift of eternal life. This is the message of the Gospel. (Acts 4:12; 16:31; I Cor. 15:1-4; Eph. 2:8-9; John 1:12; John 3:16; Romans 5:1)
-
ASSURANCE - All who are born of the Spirit through faith in Christ can have assurance of salvation and are eternally secure in Christ. (John 10:27-29; Rom. 8:1; Eph. 1:13-14; John 5:24; II Tim. 1:12; I John 5:11-13)
-
ORDINANCES - The scriptural ordinances of Baptism and the Lord's Supper are for all believers in Christ. Believers are responsible for taking the Lord's Supper within the context of the local church. Therefore, we limit participation in the Lord's Supper to our members because they are under the church's spiritual authority. (Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 8:12, 36-38; I Cor. 11:23-26)
-
SATAN - Satan is one of several names given in the Bible for the personal being who is the source of all evil. The Bible pictures him as "your adversary the devil", as a roaring lion, walking about, seeking whom he may devour. (1 Peter 5:8) As the slanderer, the devil slanders God to man (Gen. 3:1-5) and man to God. (Job 1:9) As the adversary he successfully tempts man to rebel against God. (Job 1) He was created by God and will one day be cast into the lake of fire. (Rev. 20:10)
-
RESURRECTION - The scriptures teach that Jesus Christ rose from the dead in His glorified body and all that put their trust in Him will be raised bodily to live with Him forever in His Kingdom. The Bible speaks of the resurrection of the Just and the resurrection of the Unjust. The Just will be raised to live with Christ and the Unjust will be raised to live in Hell. (1 Cor. 15, 1 John 3:2, 1 Thes. 4:1-18, Rev. 20:14-15)

But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it-he will be blessed in what he does.
